Scholarships

Sports Scholarships are available for students entering Years 7 to 12 who demonstrate outstanding sporting ability, a strong commitment to their chosen sport, and the potential to make a positive contribution to the College's sporting programme. Applicants are expected to be competing at a Regional, State or National representative level and are expected to maintain a strong academic standard while consistently demonstrating behaviours that align with the College's values and ethos.

Applicants are not required to sit the Academic ACER Exam. However, they must submit a cover letter, a current two-page résumé/CV, and two written references from their coaches as part of the application process.

Music Scholarships are available for students entering Years 7 to 12 who demonstrate excellence and commitment to musical endeavour. This commitment is typically evidenced through reports, performances, and a recorded audition. Recorded auditions will be reviewed by the College's Head of Music, and, at their discretion, applicants may be invited to attend an in-person audition should further assessment be required.

Students are expected to be of a medium to high standard of playing ability – this equates to approximately Grade 4 Music Examination standard and above. Students do not have to show that they have completed an examination, but they need to be playing or singing at or beyond this standard. Please seek advice from your child's music teacher if you are unsure of your child's standard. 

NOTE – special consideration for brass or lower string applicants will be given if working at a Grade 3 music level and above.

Applicants will not be required to sit the ACER Test, but will be required to submit a Cover Letter, a two-page résumé/CV, two written references, and a link to their recorded audition.

Recorded Audition details

Students are required to submit a video recording that – 

• Includes an introduction of the performer – their name and the current level they are working at for their instrument (eg. Grade 5 Rockschool; Grade 8 Cello)
• Includes an introduction before each piece – title and composer of the work and background context for style/genre/storyline.
• Shows the applicant performing and the instrument should be in view of the camera eg. See the student’s hands and feet for piano; see the student playing the violin, not hidden behind a music stand; standing where appropriate as a soloist.
• Includes two contrasting pieces (or sections of pieces) that best represents their current standard. If students are at a high level of achievement in two instruments, students should consider playing one piece on each instrument.
• Is between 4 - 8 minutes in length; a break in the video is accepted between the two pieces – the video can be stopped after the first performance
• Includes accompaniment or a backing track. Exceptions to this would be 

Eg. My first performance is titled Rainclouds by Markus Lang. It is an impressionist piece with heavy pedalling and well-connected lines, creatively portraying the grey fluffy clouds with the use of gradual dynamic changes and a minor key.

1. if the piece was written without accompaniment eg. A study.
2. Piano players

• Is sent as a youtube link from a private account.

Note – singers must not have any lyrics in front of them. Instrumentalists are permitted to have music in front of them.

Service and Leadership Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the College Principal to exceptional applicants seeking to join Coomera Anglican College, as well as current College students. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to their school and wider community, together with excellence and achievement across a wide range of pursuits, including service, leadership, academic, sporting, cultural or other areas.

Applicants seeking to join Coomera Anglican College from another school will be required to sit the ACER Examination.

All applicants will also be required to submit a Cover Letter and a two-page resume/CV outlining their achievements, involvement, and contributions to their school and wider community.
