Early Learning Centre Programme | Coomera Anglican College

imagine, Listen, Respect

At Coomera Anglican College Early Learning Centre, we foster a learning environment built on the foundations of the Anglican Ethos and the iLR - imagine, Listen, Respect values culture of the College. This is achieved through the incorporation of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and through valued child / teacher initiated play experiences. We recognise, acknowledge, value and respect the uniqueness of each child within our Centre and work in partnership with families to ensure that they become capable, confident and competent members of the College community.

Coomera Anglican College Early Learning Centre’s curriculum is based upon The Early Years Learning Framework. This framework describes the principles, practice and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school. The framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning as play is the best tool for young children’s learning providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development. The Framework also recognises the importance of communication and language, including early literacy, numeracy and social and emotional development. This framework is particularly important for those children in the Kindy and Senior Kindy rooms as it provides the canvas for all learning opportunities that take place in these rooms. The Pre-Prep programme is based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. This document outlines the Early Learning Areas associated with later success in school. The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines aim to specifically enrich children’s learning in the Kindergarten (Preprep) Year. Throughout the Pre-Preparatory Year, children’s rights to experience the joy of childhood is fundamental and learning is promoted through play, emergent and planned learning experiences; and collaboration between teachers and children. As a key part of our Pre-Prep programme we focus on developing key skills and learning attributes through a ‘Round Robin’ programme that occurs twice a week. Round Robin embraces small group, intentional teaching experiences that target early literacy, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills and music. In Queensland, the Kindergarten (Pre-Prep) Year is the year before the Preparatory Year of schooling.

Our online parent communication and reporting system: Storypark to Learning provides a platform for each child’s learning journey to be recorded and shared.
