CACaburras Take the Court and Deliver a Standout Performance at QISSN

09 July 2025

Facing 64 of Queensland’s strongest independent schools, the CACaburras finished third with eight wins and only two losses. In an electrifying final match, they overcame a nine-point deficit to win 26 to 21 and proudly claimed a podium finish.

This result reflects the team’s exceptional resilience, discipline and unity. Every player displayed outstanding commitment, rising to each challenge with confidence and determination.

The girls are outstanding athletes, playing with skill and agility well beyond their years. Captains Issie R, Morgan S and Ava B united the team, creating a strong bond both on and off the court. Watching them excel has been one of the greatest highlights of my career, and I am incredibly proud to be part of the CAC family."

Head Coach Mrs Megan Walker

The expert guidance of Head Coach Mrs Megan Walker and Assistant Coach Mr Victor Potaka played a vital role in preparing the athletes for this high-level competition. Their dedication to building confidence, skills and strategy over many years laid the foundation for this achievement.

Manager Mrs Dawn Holder’s meticulous organisation and netball expertise allowed the coaching team to focus fully on performance, while Mrs Belinda Stephen provided invaluable additional support. Her knowledge and care, particularly in leading warm down and recovery sessions, ensured the players remained strong and focused throughout the demanding week.

Special recognition goes to Shontae H, who was named Most Valuable Player for her exceptional on-court performances.

The CACaburra Opens Netball Team’s ability to stay focused, adapt, support each other and perform under pressure has inspired the entire College Community. Their never say die attitude and team-first mindset set a new benchmark for excellence at the College.

Support from the community, both in Bundaberg and from afar, ensured the team felt encouraged at every stage and played such a valuable role in their success.

Coomera Anglican College looks forward to building on this legacy and inspiring future generations of athletes to strive for excellence on and off the court.
