Coomera Anglican College operates its own Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care facility for children from Preparatory to Year 7. We are licensed are under the Education and Care Services National Law 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011. Under this Act we are bound to comply with all rules and regulations, for example requirements about the children’s activities, experiences and programmes, educator/children ratios and educator qualifications.
In 2014 we were assessed under the new National system titled National Quality Framework which consists of a National Quality Standard that embraces seven quality areas: Educational Programme and practice; Children’s health and safety; Physical Environment; Staffing Arrangements; Relationships with Children; Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities; Leadership and Service Management. The National Body - ACECQA - oversees the system and guides its implementation in a Nationally consistent way.

Our programmes are carefully planned to cater for the children attending based on the needs and interests of children and parent feedback. The programme includes structured and non-structured activities covering arts/crafts, music and movement, physical outdoor play, problem solving games, computers, homework, imaginative and dramatic play, books, multicultural activities and construction and incorporates the My Time, Our Place Framework. My Time, Our Place is an approved National Framework which acknowledges the importance of play and leisure in children’s learning and development and that learning is not limited to any particular time or place. Within the Framework, there are five Learning Outcomes which have been designed to reflect the integrated and complex learning that requires active citizenship for all children in a wide range of settings. The educators at Coomera Anglican College Outside School Hours Care Centre place an importance on relationships and strengthening each child’s talents and interests. Working in collaboration with children and in partnership with families, educators use the Outcomes to guide their planning for children’s wellbeing and learning. In order to engage children actively in learning, educators identify children’s strengths and interests, choose appropriate strategies and design their environments.
The Vacation Care programme also includes incursions with visiting performers and workshops.
Afternoon Tea is served each day at 3.45pm with a varied nutritious menu that always includes a variety of fruit, and caters for children’s varying dietary needs. No nut products are served as the College is a 'nut free' zone.
The coordinator is Advanced Diploma qualified. All staff hold Blue Cards and First Aid Certificates. The facility operates with an educator/child ratio that is 1 educator to every 15 children whilst in the Centre. During the January vacation care period the Centre operates with an educator/child ratio of 1 educator to every 11 children
