Week 10 1

The 2017 Gold Coast Careers Festival will be an inspiring, engaging and all-encompassing event for students to explore study options, identify career pathways and discover current and future employment opportunities right here on the Gold Coast.

This year this important local careers event will be held at the Convention Centre on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 May. Year 10 students will be attending as a group and will be travelling by bus from CAC. It is important that Year 11 and 12 students make their own way to the expo after school on 10 May as it will remain open until 7pm on that day. Students are advised to go online to see what is available including a list of all the presenters as well as workshops and presentations:
https://www.studygoldcoast.org.au/careers-festival/

For students, planning their career journey can be daunting, challenging and exciting in equal measures. The 2017 Gold Coast Careers Festival will provide opportunities for students to not only get advice from a range of education and training providers, but to gain valuable insight into how their chosen study will transfer into current and emerging career opportunities.

Team Members – Boost Juice BP Coomera Service Centre

We're Boost Juice.

We don't want to toot our own horn, but we're kind of a big deal. People love us. Our stores smell of rich mahogany (not really... they just smell like fruit...).
But this has been no easy task, we're loved for a few simple reasons: we're the makers of delicious smoothies, fresh juices and most importantly having the best Boosties in our stores that give our customers a reason to smile.

This is where you come in!

We are on the lookout for Casual Team Members available for a few shifts after school and weekends to join our new Boost Juice BP Coomera Store! We are looking at selection / interviews taking place in mid-April and the store opening in early May
So, if you've got more passion than a passionfruit, more energy than an Energy Lift, enjoy randomly breaking out your Beyoncé dance moves and serving up the type of customer service that will put a spring in anyone's step then Boost Juice welcomes you with open arms!
Apply to recruit@thekookeegroup.com.au with your availabilities and resume.

Students who have already applied or are wanting to apply, that interviews will be held at Dreamworld on Friday 24 March, 9am – 12pm. Students will be advised, by latest, on the 31 March whether or not they have been successful in securing a spot.
WE WILL ACCEPT YEAR 12’S!!!

Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards

Coomera Anglican College is a licenced Award Operator for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This international award equips young people for life and work. It is the world’s leading achievement award. In 2013 more than one million young people around the world took part in the Award, in over 140 countries and territories.

Since the Award’s launch nearly 60 years ago, it has inspired more than eight million young people to transform their lives. By creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award can play a critical role in their development outside the classroom. It also allows their achievement to be consistently recognised worldwide, giving young people unique international accreditation of their experiences.
Students 14 years and over are eligible to participate in the Bronze Award. However, younger students who are interested may participate in the Bridge Award. In both cases, there are four sections:

  • Skill
  • Service
  • Physical Recreation
  • Adventurous Journey

For more information about the Award levels and the types of activities that are required, go to:

https://www.qld.gov.au/youth/be-involved-have-your-say/duke-of-ed-what-is/

Our students are already participating in Physical Recreation when they are involved with APS sport training and competition. Many young people are also heavily involved in Skills such as learning a musical instrument, the College musical, Debating and Public Speaking. Service activities offered at the College include the Interact Club and Micah. In short, many of our students could gain this internationally recognised award with minimal additional effort.

To register or find out more, please email me (klyon@cac.qld.edu.au ) and I will send the registration form.
