From the Head of Primary - Week 6, Term 4 2018

Celebration Events - Memorable and Significant

At Coomera Anglican College our Celebration Events are more like stage events celebrating a rite of passage in which the focus is on every student as they celebrate the work and achievements of their year. The imagery of 2018 has been spectacular, and the feelings aroused by the success of others is never half-hearted. The inspiring talents and those spell bounding moments on stage, when you forget you are watching young children, are all enduring and captivating images that should rightly enable us to conclude that this has indeed been a good year.

The Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 Celebration Events this week celebrated both the journey of this current year as well as the new beginnings ahead, with captivating musical numbers presented by each class in a range of styles. The performances were all well composed with sound and visuals highlighting life in the Primary Campus in 2018. And let us not forget the impact of the traditional presentations of awards and final enthusiastic singing from all in attendance. I think that we would all agree that there was spectacle and sentiment, all in equal proportion.

I take this opportunity to congratulate the students and teachers of Prep, Year 1 and Year 2. We can all feel proud of the way that they presented and conducted themselves during their Celebration Events.

Primary Student Leadership - 2019

Congratulations to all students in Year 5 who were nominated for a leadership position in 2019. This week we announced a shortlist of students who will present their Primary Student Leadership speech on Monday, 12 November in preparation of electing our Primary Captains, SRC Captain and Faith Leader for 2019. The speeches will be delivered to the students of the Primary Campus on Monday in the Ivan Gibbs Centre. Good luck to all students involved.

A Musical Extravaganza

At this time of the year, we enjoy the various annual instrumental concerts hosted by the music department. Seeing the bright, sparkling faces of our Primary instrumentalists and vocalists as they take to the stage is always a delight. It is evident how much they adore and they gain from the experience. The concerts which involve over two hundred students in total, provide an eclectic array of musical items performed for parents and grandparents.

Last week was the String Departments biggest event of the Year - The Annual String Extravaganza. They explored the Medieval theme this year with students learning about music during the medieval era. They all looked so impressive in their medieval attire and it was an extremely difficult decision for string tutors: Miss Hales, Miss Connelly and Mr Setiawan to award only three student damsels and knights best costume awards. All students are congratulated for their outstanding preparation and polished performances.

Music Extravaganza

Well done, to all of our musicians!
