Thirty four Year 10, 11 and 12 Drama students together with Head of Drama Kirsty Terry, teachers Cathy Hallewell and Peter Goodman, returned on Sunday evening after a long weekend of Drama-focused activities in Sydney.
The itinerary was rich with incredible theatrical activities and performance experiences which included: Physical Theatre workshops with NIDA, a full length Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet at the Sydney Opera House, Improvisation workshops in the beautiful Sydney Theatre company space, an in depth backstage tour of the Opera House, a night at the Short and Sweet Drama Festival, Matilda the Musical, evening picnics in a park and so much more.
Mrs Terry said the entire weekend was just fabulous and thanked each of the students for their enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things, their desire to open their minds to new experiences, their delight in making new friends and the way they unashamedly expressed their emotions and feelings, in turn making her incredibly proud. Students and staff were awe-struck on many occasions. This experience certainly inspired excellence in teaching and learning and will no doubt impact on their future endeavours both in and outside of the Drama classroom.
