      The College’s English Faculty is well on-track in preparing students for new assessment formats which will be implemented statewide as part of Queensland’s shift to incorporating external assessment in the near future.  Our College was invited to participate in a trial of an external assessment task, which our Year 11 English students completed in Term Two.  Students worked with their teachers on an in-depth study of a novel, The Secret River, then prepared for writing an analytical essay on one of two unseen questions in examination conditions.  We have received back a very pleasing set of results, a summary of…

      The House Athletics carnivals held last week were both a great success. The House spirit and participation rates were fantastic and the competition for age champion keenly contested.       The State Schools Cross Country Championships was held over the weekend. Our students have worked extremely hard in preparation for this event.   Daniel Prinsloo  - 20thDylan Devine  - 4thMackenzie Cullinane - 5thJames Murray  - 14th   As a result, Dylan Devine has now been selected in the Queensland Cross Country Team which will compete at the Nationals later this Term.       Five students from Year 7 - 8 represented the College today at the APS Chess competition.       The Gold Coast Debating competition Round Robin concluded at the end of Term 2 after four rounds of intense competition.  Coomera Anglican College students have debated prepared topics, as well as topics of which they have only had very short notice (in the case of Senior Debaters, only one hour).  Congratulations to all of our debaters and thank you to their coaches too, as well as parents and other supporters.  We are very happy to report that 8 of the 11 teams have successfully reached the finals rounds, which will commence on Wednesday 26 July with the Round of 16.  …
