Alec Pokerier - Making His Mark

With determination and dedication beyond his years, 2013 College Captain Alec Pokerier is making his mark on the world.  After graduating from the College, Alec was awarded a 25th Anniversary Academic Scholarship at Bond University and is currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance with a minor in International Business. He is also a Student Mentor at Bond assisting the English Language Institute with a United Arab Emirates student delegation.

Over the last 2 years, Alec’s incredibly busy schedule has also included his current role as a volunteer facilitator with UN Youth Australia; a recent 7-month stint as the Administration Director of UN Youth Australia and subsequent UN Youth Queensland Treasurer; two years as Student Staff Member for the National Youth Science Forum; Coomera representative for the 2014 sitting of the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament; and selection as one of 7 young Australian representatives at the 2014 World Science Conference in Israel. 

In addition, Alec finds time for his job in Corporate Events at Jupiters Hotel and Casino.

“My grandfather is my one true role model,” said Alec “throughout my childhood he provided guidance and wisdom, and taught me to be a dedicated hardworking individual with the ability to achieve new heights.”
