Gala Ball - March 2016
As J.Gatsby famously said, "a little party never hurt nobody, so we gonna dance until we drop". And so it was on Saturday night, as more than 250 guests celebrated Coomera Anglican College's 20th Anniversary with a Roaring 20's themed Gala Ball at RACV Royal Pines Resort. There were flappers, dappers and gorgeous gowns galore as guests posed for photos against a Gatsby backdrop that included a 1918 vintage firetruck, giant art déco archway and Hustlers Club snooker room. Following a Charleston dance spectacular courtesy of Sheridan’s Studio 1, Dr Mark Sly spoke of his time leading the College over the last 20 years. Chair of the College Council, Mr Stephen Knott honoured Dr Sly with a 20 Year Service badge presentation. The incredible “Funk’N’Wagnells” then took over the stage and had the dance floor pumping. It was a night to remember and a fitting tribute to this milestone anniversary for Coomera Anglican College.

… and what a night it was! In a fitting celebration of 20 Years of Performing Arts at the College, the programme showcased an array of talented students, past students and staff with stunning solo performances, smooth jazz, classical and contemporary instrumental and dance, Shakespeare, Annie The Musical favourites, and an emotional finale of “Lullaby” (Goodnight My Angel) featuring Principal Dr Mark Sly. Guests were also treated to a delicious range of canapes with thanks to our Year 11 Hospitality students, and a walk down memory lane with our photographic and costume displays.
